The big 100k on Google

105k to be precise. Im quite proud of my first movie, I was happy with the way it turned out, moreso than my third one, not because of the editing, but the raw footage was alot better for me, im very pleased and satisfied my first offering has almost reached 100k hits on google, I know full well that spending more time making a movie almost always yields better results, i'm guilty of making rushed efforts, I want to try and wait longer when compiling new material and trying to put out something thats of the best possible quality and material.

I refuse to use repetative battleground or arena footage though, so it makes the job quite a lot harder when hunting for footage, there are some nice little tricks one could make to allow the BG footage to look less repetative and more unique though, i've got a few ideas im thinking of in mind :) 105k is nice for my first google video though, when I think of the place I started and where I am now. For the time being i'm gonna keep the site on tickover, when and if i do a new movie i want it platinum on WCM, i'll arrange a complete revamp of the site and get everything to a much higher level in conjunction with a new movie. The Vashj community needs more players putting out high rated movies though, at the moment i'm the only one repping for us, like I said i encourage anyone else to get into movie making, even if the first effort isnt your best, you will learn from it and only grow better

Yes, one of the biggest mistakes I make is getting impatient. I'll have some clips which I think really stand out and at some point I just want to get them out. Which leads to putting filler in to complete songs. Patience is a must here. I really believe in quality over quantity, but sometimes... I just don't do it.

My main problem is balancing patience with harddrive space. :P

Let's say I want to include a fight with a frost mage, but the one clean fight I have the frost mage makes some horrible mistakes (summons pet while my fear is on CD). Do I hold on to this clip? It might be the only clean fight I get against a frost mage or do I delete it to make space?

Well, I had such a fight and I decided to delete and haven't had a clean fight with another frost mage yet. Well-played frost mages are one of my hardest fights as a shadowpriest.

There are always some hard decisions. My advice, make some rules and stick to your guns. No clips where the opponent makes significant unforced mistakes (unless added for humor). No 1v1 clips against people you outgear.

I'm only including 1v2s (I run out of mana for anything more than that - the life of a shadowpriest :P) and people with challenger rating (people who outgear me) or higher in my next movie, except for a few humor situations.

You are way off on this on. Outside of arranged duels the BGs are absolutely the best place to find 1v1s against well-geared people willing to fight. When making a movie I look forward to those PuG vs Preform matches, because THAT is where I find challenger, rival, duelist, and gladiator rated people. It's hard as hell to corner them and single them out, but it does happen.

I didn't have much luck last night, however. These people tend to call for help when in trouble. I had a duelist mage at 3% and he got a 6K heal from some priest who came to his rescue. Had a rival warrior at 5%, but a paladin saved him.

Furthermore, if I bait some guy into a remote corner of the Eye of the Storm to fight... what in the hell is the difference between fighting him there and fighting him in Netherstorm other than not having a bunch of MoBs adding into the fight?

A little clarification here. When I say the BGs are the best place, I'm not putting down world PvP. You CAN find great fights in world PvP as Drifting has proven in his movies.

However, it takes MUCH longer to find those types of opponents in world PvP than in the BGs and it is in that respect that I'm saying the BGs are "better."

???

never said it wasn't...

...but it's certainly more enjoyable to watch world pvp than battles in the same old scenery.

Of course there will be more frequent footage in bg's...but drifting has been able to find equally exhilarating moments like these in world pvp - even in his 3rd video whose footage was 'taken in 2 weeks' (fair enough, he outgeared everyone and used pots, but the 2 weeks and no ice block is certainly compensation for that...). Yes it will take far longer, but it does make it more special...

Variety is awesome, yah. At least there are 4 different BGS now, instead of the time of only having WSG. ;)

Read my last post clarifying what I meant by "better." I think we probably agree with each other more than disagree.

Sorry for the wall of text!
